An Exclusive One-Off Unimog 425 Series

The Mercedes Unimog: the most coveted commercial vehicle in the world. Few commercial vehicles have created their own subculture, but the Unimog stands as a true exception. It boasts the longest-running history in its class, with the very first Unimog rolling off the production line in 1948. To this day, it remains one of the most successful commercial vehicles, offering by far the widest range of possible applications—from agricultural work in the fields to fire stations around the world. With dozens of possible configurations, it is the most versatile commercial vehicle anywhere.

In 1975, Mercedes-Daimler-Benz expanded its range of heavy-duty, multifunctional work and towing vehicles by introducing the 425 series. The first model, originally named the U120, was followed in 1976 by the U1500, featuring a 150 HP diesel engine. The front axle can be engaged pneumatically while driving, easily activated with a rotary control. Using the same control—also pneumatically and while in motion—the differential locks on both the front and rear axles can be engaged. The U1500, which evolved into a versatile and powerful tractor unit designed for efficient industrial use, is approved to tow trailers up to 40 tonnes.

Our example is exceptionally unique and has been fully restored. While this Unimog was comprehensively modernised during its restoration, it has scarcely been driven or used since—let alone put to work. Upgrades include air conditioning, auxiliary heater, a 230V inverter, and many other features, making this classic practical for modern-day use. During the restoration, a brand-new genuine Mercedes engine was installed, and all technical components were brought to as-new condition from top to bottom. No expense or effort was spared, resulting in a virtually new Unimog U1500 in a unique blue metallic/red colour scheme. In addition to the original Schmidt snow plough, the Unimog is also equipped with an original, PTO-driven Schmidt snow sweeper.

This Unimog comes thoroughly documented, complete with all original manuals and winter service implements. Note: tax-exempt and MOT-exempt (APK) starting next year!
